Everything Else

Why do people in normal society dress in themes?

You all might be asking yourself the same question and, frankly, I have found myself dressed in a “theme” before. Today (I am a  student) I sat in English, nose deep in the latest graphic novel of pop interest (yes! Watchmen) and as class began I couldn’t help but notice my professor’s attire: cowboy boots, lace vest, denim to spare, and generally brown mono tonality. Calvin Klein choked those of us in the front row of seats. Its not everyday something as ridiculous as cowgirl English professor crosses my path.

I know that some of these crazily dressed people I see are directly proportional to the amount of pot circulating through California but…seriously? I’m sure that themes sometimes wiggle their way into even the smallest towns. I’m not a fan of theatrics but it is everywhere. There is a theme associated with those Ugg boots, there is a theme associated with tight pants on men, and even a theme associated with flip-flop sandals! noticing a person’s theme/niche can tell you a lot about them. I think my English professor is a closet burlesque dancer. Maybe she aspires to be Silk Spectre III. Lame.

  • Now that you've mentioned it I've noticed how many people at my uni dress in themes and people that are dress similar seem to group together.
